Dear Neighbors
We’re looking at another beautiful week in Beaver Creek.  The sunny highs are expected to be in the upper 60’s and lower 70’s and cold enough for a little heat at night.  Skinks and tortoises are hibernating and the scorpions are coming inside.  (A black light hunt for those mean insects is a particularly good idea this time of year.)
This is a wonderful weekend to be active.  Free food including lots of cantaloupes is available in the early AM today at Beaver Creek School.  The Saturday hike will be led by Stan Mish, the president of the Beaver Creek Trails Coalition.  If you have any questions about the construction of the Wickiup Mesa Trails, don’t miss this particular hike.
Since November is Native American Heritage month, several special programs are scheduled at Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot.  Please take a look at the National Park Service flyer below.  The bird walk at Montezuma Well is also today.  Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments will close at 3 PM on November 23, Thanksgiving Day.  This includes all three units-Montezuma Castle and Montezuma Well in Rimrock, and Tuzigoot in Clarkdale.  All units will resume normal operating hours on November 24, 8 AM to 5 PM.
Later this month, everyone is invited to a free Thanksgiving Dinner from 2 to 4 PM at Grace Community Lutheran Church.  Another trail hike is scheduled and the Kiwanis Christmas House opens at the Beaver Creek Gasmart on the 30th.
Looking ahead in December, there will be a Local Author Fair at the Beaver Creek Public Library and mobile on-site mammography at Beaver Creek School.  A special pot luck and Dump the Drugs are scheduled in the Beaver Creek Adult Center.
Wishing all a happy start to the Thanksgiving Holiday,
