jensen4th_3The annual parade and picnic for July 4th in Rollins Park went off like a firecracker,  with 350-400 attendees eating pancakes and sausage, hot dogs, and ice cream.  What an exuberant celebration!

Peter Jensen, President of sponsoring BC Kiwanis club,  couldn’t have been prouder when the parade marched by, featuring daughter Junior Grand Marshal Abigail Jensen representing both her family and the community.  Daily Bugle columnist Bill Helm, our personal favorite journalist, featured Abigail in his column July 3rd.

Grand Marshal Verna Shafer, the original designer of Sycamore Park, was also featured in a Bugle column citing her lifetime contributions to the community.   American Legion Post 93 Riders of Camp Verde started off the parade, and the audience sang, saluted, cried, and cheered when the national Anthem was played.

The worducksld-renowned duck race at Sycamore Park was, of course, the next highlight of the day. Prizes of all sorts were won by duck sponsors, and kids of all ages had a wonderful time.

Here is Ray of Ray’s Handyman, the fountain guy, in front of the newly renovated fountain, which is back to its bubby condition at the center of the park.ray2
