Board Meeting Minutes

September 10, 2012, 5:00PM, BCAC

 

 

 

The regular Board Meeting of the Lake Montezuma Property Owners Association was called to order by President Janet Aniol at 5:03PM. Board members attending were Maggie Holt, Tom Saunders, Karin Krippene, and Jim Bowser.  Sharon Brooks was absent.

 

The information items from board members and residents were discussed.  Items especially noted were:

            The Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner -- Friday, September 21st

            The BCAC Rummage Sale -- Friday, September 28th and Saturday, September 29th

            eNews today notes candidate forums.

 

Minutes of the July 2, 2012 were discussed.  A motion was made by Jim, seconded by Karin that the minutes be accepted as written.  Motion carried.

 

A Thank You letter was received from Beaver Creek School regarding LMPOA's donation toward the transportation costs of the summer activities and pool run.

 

Janet presented a copy of an article written by Gwen Baxter regarding the Montezuma Rimrock Fire District override, which will appear on the November ballot.  (See New Business for more details.)

Public Agenda Items:  Bob McClarin has passed away.  A discussion was held regarding what LMPOA should do in remembrance.  A motion was made by Maggie, seconded by Tom that a letter of condolence and expression of gratitude for all Bob did for LMPOA be mailed to Pam McClarin.  Motion carried.

 

President's Update:    (See New Business.)

 

Committee Reports

Transportation: Nothing new at this time

 

Membership: No report

 

BCRC:  No report

 

Water: The permit for the Bridge Scour protection Project has been requested from Army Corps.  The Project continues to move forward.

 

Beaver Buggy:  Nothing new at this time  

Planning & Zoning:  Tom reported that the owner of 3575 Valley Vista, Rimrock has been doing clean-up. Work remains, but it looks better now.

Residents should complain directly to the County, filling out their form.

 

 

 

Old Business:  An update regarding the Park electric project was given.  Janet has made contact with a commercially-licensed electrician.  She is waiting for his estimate.  Maggie moved that, when the estimate is received, Janet will email/phone the information to the Board so that approval to move forward with the project can be obtained.  Karin seconded.  Motion carried.

 

New Business:  Mr. Witt, owner of the Beaver Creek Villas, has asked the County to eliminate Unit #3 in order to facilitate the procuring of funding to finish the project.  In eliminating Unit #3 the fifty per cent (50%) number of owner-occupied units becomes less.  A discussion was held.  It was moved by Karin, seconded by Jim that a letter of support with stipulations for this elimination be sent to Tammy DeWitt, County Planning Supervisor. The stipulations are as follows:

1.   That the unfinished portion of the project with the exposed rebar and footings be enclosed with fencing.

2.   That the area behind the units currently in existence be cleaned of all vegetation and building refuse, and that the whole property be maintained to present a neat, clean appearance.

3.   That 50 % of the total units of all the phases continue to be owner-occupied as each additional phase is added.

Motion carried.

 

Interim Fire Chief Dale Duns will be the featured speaker at the October meeting.  He will discuss the Montezuma Rimrock Fire District override, which will appear on the November ballot.  The District has already had to reduce the number of personnel currently working in the station.  Additional cuts in Federal funding are anticipated.  Unless the override is passed, more personnel will have to be let go, which may compromise the current services.

 

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:30PM.

 

The next meeting will be October 1st at 5:00PM at Beaver Creek Adult Center.
