Transportation Report--November 2009

McGuireville TI

On Monday, November 2, the southbound traffic north of the interchange was switched into a paved segment of the median in order to allow a safe work zone for crews working on the construction of a new southbound bridge deck for the  Dry Beaver Creek Bridge in that location. The project manager confirmed that the projected completion date of the bridge redecking and ramp safety improvements is still April 2010.

Verde Valley Trail Plan

The presentations of the plan throughout the Verde Valley resulted in the completion of 46 surveys.  42 of those responders considered that improving and expanding trails in the Verde Valley area should be a priority. 41 supported increased spending and use of resources by local governments. Some comments from this group and via emails were:  provide trash and recycling cans; river front trail between Cottonwood and Camp Verde; move forward as quickly as possible, surprised at the scope of work,  worry about ATV abuse; need to get a handle on illegal ATV abuse; secure trailheads from illegal ATV/ORV use; and provide some wheelchair accessible trails.

The next meeting of this committee is at Bill Stafford's home, 4245 E Creek Way in Lake Montezuma, on Tuesday, November 10, at 10:30 AM. Everyone is welcome to attend. Currently work is being done to augment the transportation portion of the BC Community Plan and a first project is being discussed.
