LMPOA Transportation Report

·         LMPOA sponsored a committee to recommend a solution to the ADA sidewalk ramp access vs parking situation that included business, Adult Center, and Rollins Park (LMPOA) representation and input. The committee, chaired by Bill Merkley,  presented a consensus solution that is being recommended for approval to Yavapai County Area Roads Superintendent Verl Cook as the next step in this process to do some restriping.

·         The public transportation committee has now received the VIN number for the Ford Supreme Van that will be delivered to BCAC. The committee is in the process of arranging the required insurance and notarized credentials that must be in plat at ADOT on October 15. Volunteer drivers are needed. MRM Trails Coalition


·         The next meeting is Tuesday, November 16, at 9 AM in the Adult Center. The next trail work day on the Montezuma Avenue path will be Saturday, October 16. Please meet at Rollins Park at 7:30 AM for the safety briefing.

·         Yavapai County is preparing to stripe their portion of the post office to post office safety path. After the completion of the chip sealing on the roadways, a shoulder will be striped on the north side of the roadway for non-motorized use on Sweetwater Dr to Lookout Point Rd. (The Montezuma Avenue path connects to the Sweetwater intersection.)

·         The Verde Valley Regional Trails Concept Plan will be presented to the Yavapai County Planning and Zoning Commission for their recommendation on December 22 and to the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors for their approval on January 18. The draft version of this plan was presented by Tammy DeWitt, County Planner, and Bill Stafford, Verde Valley Regional Trails Committee member to BCRC and the public in October 2009. The plan may be read at the LMPOA web site. or  MRM will request that BCRC recommend the plan for approval to P&Z and BOS at either the November or December meeting of the Council.

Beaver Creek School


·         Margo Price, AmeriCorps VISTA member, is in the process of writing a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant application for the purpose of obtaining planning assistance for to develop a project utilizing this funding.



·         ADOT Thank You Letter Address - Our community will have a safer entrance for many years to come due to the completion of the McGuireville Interchange Ramp Improvement Project which widened and lengthened all of the entrance and exit ramps.  This was a very challenging engineering, design, and construction project.  We hope that residents and users of the interchange will take the time to send a few words of appreciation to the ADOT staff, State Transportation Board, and Project Contractors and Crew at  Please click on the Contact ADOT button in the upper right-hand corner of the home page.

·         I-17, McGuireville Rest Area to Coconino County Line – Paving should be completed this week.  Final pavement markings and incidentals (rumble strip, delineators) to finish are in progress.

·         I-17 Climbing Lane from Camp Verde to top of Copper Canyon – Looking for funding sources.

·         McGuireville TI – Fully open.  96% complete. Will redo striping on Northbound ramp.  Cement barriers are permanent as are needed for safety. The asphalt plant will be gone in two weeks. It is located on private land, so ADOT does not know if there is an agreement to reseed.

·         McGuireville Rest Area – Open.

·         Cordes TI – Start up in 1 to 2 months.  Adding T intersection.  Will be 18 month project.
