Lake Montezuma/Beaver Creek News

New and Exciting

Y.C.Sheriff's Beaver Creek office in the Village Mall in Lake Montezuma will be open to the public from 9 to 11 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays effective immediately. At the present time Maggie Holt will be available in the office with the possibility that it will be open more hours if needed. The telephone number to this office is 592-9121

A primary service will be administration of the house check forms for the Beaver Creek area and assistance in filling them out if desired. Patrol VIPs perform house checks for people on vacation or otherwise away from their homes for up to three months. Stop in the office for full information about this service.

Also available are gun locks, child identification kits, house numbers with backer boards, and Silent Witness telephone number key rings and trash bags. All items are free of charge.

Volunteers In Protection is a community organization that functions under the auspices of the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. VIPs attend a training academy for several weeks before being sworn as VIPs. Patrol VIPs must attend an additional firearms course and qualify under the same requirements as certified deputies. VIPs who attend the full academy but not the firearms course may be unarmed patrol and assist when full patrol status is not required, such as in traffic control situations. They may also ride along with other VIPs or certified deputies. Administrative VIPs attend a shortened version of the academy and assist with numerous tasks in the various offices, including the detention centers.
